Poplar Girls Stop Scotties

 

A big second quarter lifted Poplar’s girls’ basketball team to a 51-39 win in Glasgow on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The victory improved Poplar’s league record to 3-1 for the season.

After a 5-5 deadlock at the end of the opening quarter, the Indians struck for 22 points in the second period for a 27-19 advantage.

Poplar increased its lead to 41-29 during the third quarter.

Morgen Nordwick led the Indians with 16 points.

Also scoring were Cammie Martell with eight, Bailey Dupree with seven, EmmaRae Martell with five, Jazmyn Carrywater with three, Mattie Falls Down with three, Braelyn Nordwick with three, Kessee Erickson with three and Rikki Belton with three points.

Reaching double figures for Glasgow were Daley Aune with 16, Mayzie Yoakam with 12 and Carly Nelson with 10 points.

The Indians will travel to Wolf Point on Friday, Jan. 20.
