Lustre Christian Boys Beat Mavericks

Lustre Christian’s boys’ basketball team cruised to a 78-34 league victory over North County on Friday, Jan. 13.

The Lions jumped out to a 19-8 advantage in the first quarter and held a 42-20 halftime lead.

Lustre scored 20 points in the third quarter to increase the margin to 62-25.

Leading the Lions were Elijah Lenihan with 17 and Cayden Klatt with 12 points.

Also scoring were Jasiah Hambira with nine, Byron Ewing with eight, Braden Ewing with eight, Prestyn Klatt with six, Diek Olfert with five, Johnslee Pierre with five, Cam Reddig with two, Alex Chen with two and Clay Reddig with two.

Blaine Downing finished with 24 points for North Country.

In the girls’ game, Lustre lost by a 56-14 final.

The Lions were outscored by a 19-1 margin the opening quarter.

Lustre’s top scorers were Alexa Reddig with six and Aubri Holzrichter with five points. Hannah Brown scored two and Grace Brown had one point.

Leading North Country were Teagan Erickson with 19 and Kora LaBrie with 11 points.
