Poplar Girls Take Third In Team Standings

 

Poplar’s girls earned third place in the team standings at the Cut Bank Invitational.

The Indians scored 64 points at the wrestling meet. The top two teams were Havre with 129 points and Harlem with 99 points.

Poplar’s Angelina Escarcega earned championship honors at 100 pounds.

Escarcega won all five on her matches on pins. The sophomore pinned Simms’ Hayley Petersen in 5:08 for the title.

Alara Parshall earned third place at 120 pounds. Parshall won on a pin and a 10-7 decision in her first two matches. After dropping a sudden overtime decision in the semi-final round, Parshall won her final two matches on pins.

Blake Follette placed fourth at 107 pounds. After splitting her first two matches, Follette earned three straight victories by pins. In the thirdplace match, Follette dropped a 5-2 decision.

In the boys’ division, Craig Berg earned fifth place at 170 pounds. Berg won three matches on pins and another match on decision. Rollen Spotted Bull won one match by pin at 285 pounds.
