The Wolf Point Wolves suffered a 68-38 boys’ basketball defeat at Malta on Saturday, Jan. 22. The first-place Mustangs jumped out to a 21-6 advantage in the first quarter and held a 42-15 half-time lead. Malta held a 65-26 advantage after three quarters of play. Wolf Point’s girls basketball team fell behind early and lost its league contest at Malta, 50-35, on Saturday, Jan. 22. Malta took a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 28-12 advantage at the half. The margin was 41-24 after three quarters of play. Several area wrestlers were ranked in the latest Class B state wrestling poll. Mason Garfield of Wolf Point ranks third at 205 pounds. The top two ranked wrestlers are Glasgow’s Kyler Hallock and Huntley Project’s Stran Selman. Jase Frederick of Poplar ranks third and teammate Navarjo Escarcega is fifth at 120 pounds.
