Arnold Erwin EagleBoy Sr., 73, of Poplar died March 8, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings. He was born on Aug. 2, 1948, to Matthew Eagle Boy and Rose No Breast Eagle Boy. He was raised in Chelsea and attended school in Poplar. He worked at A& S Industries for a long time. He retired from there after it closed, then was a CHR driver for a while. He enjoyed traveling in the big van called “Big Bertha” to Minot, N.D., for the state fair and walking around. He loved going to pow-wows and visiting his brother Adrian. He played guitar for wakes and funerals on and off the reservation with Manny Smith. He had a special relationship with Shirley Sparvier, and they had two daughters Steffie EagleBoy and Marcella EagleBoy. Arnold EagleBoy, Jr. came later on. He was the last descendant of the Eagle Boy family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Rita Brown, Isabelle Kidder, Mayme Red Eagle, Mary Ironbear, Savannah Sparvier, Cynthia Sparvier, Irene Lowry EagleBoy,

Donna Kellum


Donna Shumway Kellum, 77, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her home in Miles City. She was born on Sept. 11, 1944, in Wolf Point, the fifth of 12 children to George and Pearl Shumway. She lived in Nashua from the age of one until she was nine years old. Her family moved back to Wolf Point when she was nine. She attended schools in Nashua and Wolf Point. Shea graduated high school with a GED. In her lifetime, she worked at the Wolf Point hospital, Northeastern Mental Health in Glasgow, Poplar Hospital and Nursing Home and the Custer County Health Department. She also worked 10 years for Mary Cato Swayne in Miles City. From a previous marriage, she had a son, Robert Allison. She married Ken Kellum on Sept. 1, 1990, and, from this marriage, she gained five stepchildren. One she helped raise, Kyle. Her lifelong devotion to pets of all shapes and sizes was inspiring to many. She wanted her family to know that, in her life, all the good she had done was given in Jesus’ name and her sins were left with him at the cross. She is survived by her son, Robert Allison; stepsons, Terry Kellum and Kyle Kellum, stepdaughters, Terra Kellum and Rayna Bird; adopted son,

Poplar High School Hosts Prom


Poplar High School hosted their 2022 prom March 19 in Moccasin Square Garden. Students mixed without masks, entering the gym in pairs and small groups. Grand entry started a little after 8 p.m., following a delay resulting from the administration of breathalyzers. Junior class advisor Evan Cummins said that the event was a dose of normalcy after the pandemic impacted access to public events
