Relative fair weather returned to Oswego Dec. 26 following frigid temps and heavy snow. Local artist Benji Daniels’ added four flags, including the Stars and Stripes and a POW/MIA flag, to his large scale art installation on the south side of U.S. Highway 2 in September. According to NWSG meteorologist Angel Enriquez, the most significant impacts of last week’s extreme weather were related to poor road conditions and low visibility. “Especially with the wind and the dry nature of the snow,” said Enriquez. “It caused a lot of drifts and reports of vehicles getting stuck.” Moving forward into January, Enriquez said models are predicting near normal temps after the first of the year, with highs in the 20s and lows in the single digits. He added that the first week in January should see just slightly less than normal precipitation.
