Red Hawks Knock Off Fairview Team
The Froid/Lake opened the Eastern C volleyball divisional tournament with a straight set victory over Fairview on Thursday, Nov. 3.
The Red Hawks posted a 2513, 25-11, 25-22 victory.
Froid/Lake was able to gain an 8-4 lead in the opening set on kills by Mara Salvevold, Carolyne Christoffersen and Dasani Nesbit.
After an ace by Christoffersen and a kill by Nesbit put the margin at 13-6, Fairview fought back to 13-11.
The Red Hawks responded with a kill by Nesbit and an ace by Brooklyn Nordwick for a 1511 lead.
Fairview earned a 20-19 advantage on a kill by Emily Johnson and a block by Macy Tjelde. Froid/Lake went back ahead on an ace by Christoffersen.
A spike by Nesbit was good for a 24-21 margin. After the Warriors scored two points, the Red Hawks ended the set with a kill by Salvevold.
The Red Hawks flew to a 10-4 advantage in the second set as a block by Baylee Davidson, a kill by Nesbit and a kill by Jaeleigh Davidson highlighted action. The net play of Nesbit and Christoffersen led the way to a 17-7 advantage.
Kills by Nesbit, Salvevold and J. Davidson produced a 2310 advantage. With the score at 23-11, the Red Hawks scored the last two points including a kill by Salvevold.
With the third set even at 1111, the Red Hawks gained an upper- hand on a block by Christoffersen and a kill by Salvevold. Froid/Lake stayed ahead until an ace by Kallee Hopes tied the score at 19-19.
Four kills by J. Davidson led the way to a 24-22 lead for the Red Hawks. Froid/Lake ended the match on a kill by Salvevold.
J. Davidson led the Red Hawks with nine kills. Salvevold served three aces.
Christoffersen accounted for three blocks. Aleah Johnson had 13 digs.
B. Davidson finished with 27 assists.
