Wolf Point Loses To Conrad, 34-14

The Wolf Point Wolves suffered with too many turnovers and injuries during their conference football game in Conrad on Friday, Oct. 14. The result was Conrad coming away with a 34-14 victory.

The Wolves opened the contest by driving into Conrad territory, but the Cowboys returned a fumble 75 yards for the game’s first touchdown.

After an interception, Conrad put together a scoring drive that resulted in a fouryard touchdown run by Brinkley Evans for a 12-0 margin in the opening quarter.

Conrad increased its lead to 18-0 on a five-yard dash by Evans in the second period.

Wolf Point kept battling and drove 82 yards to get on the scoreboard later in the half. A five-yard run by Gaige Bushman accounted for the Wolves’ first touchdown. Preston Swenson kicked the PAT for an 18-7 game.

The Wolves put together a long drive early in the third quarter to cut the margin to 18-14. Quarterback Juliun Benson raced 19 yards for the touchdown and Swenson kicked the conversion.

Conrad responded with a 58-yard, nine-play scoring drive. The Cowboys reached the end zone on an eight-yard pass for a 26-14 lead with 3:44 remaining in the third quarter.

With the running of Benson leading the way, the Wolves drove into Conrad territory. The threat ended on a quarterback sack that caused a fumble.

The Cowboys drove inside the Wolf Point five, but the Wolves accounted for a strong defensive stand. On Wolf Point’s next offensive play, a penalty produced a safety and gave Conrad two more points.

After Evans returned the free kick to the Wolf Point 25, the Cowboys went on to score on a three-yard run by Evans with 6:29 left.

The Wolves finished with more than 400 yards in the contest. Benson led the attack with 186 yards rushing and 173 yards passing. Top receivers were Swenson with eight catches and Bushman with five catches.

The Wolves will close their regular season at Glasgow on Friday, Oct. 21.
