Lady Wolves Keep Improving During Match Against Circle
The Lady Wolves kept improving throughout the night but came up short against a strong Circle squad on Thursday, Oct. 13. Circle won by a 25-14, 25-17, 25-23, final.
The hard hitting of Grace Gackle led the Wildcats to an early 10-4 advantage in the first set. After Wolf Point’s Sierra Hamilton and Jerzey Azure connected on kills, Circle went on to take a 2212 lead.
Wolf Point scored on kills by Azure and Kaleah Miller- Toves, but Circle went on to win the first set by a 25-14 margin.
Behind by a 13-9 margin in the second set, the Wolves fought back on an ace by Katelyn MacDonald, a dig by Kylie Rodenberg and two kills by Hamilton to cut the margin to 14-13.
Wolf Point kept the set tight on kills by Hamilton and Rodenberg, but Circle moved ahead 23-16 as Gackle accounted for a kill and an ace.
The Wolves enjoyed a good start in the third set as a serve by Mahala Moran and a kill by J’Elle Garfield produced a 2-1 lead. Hamilton then served a pair of aces for a 5-1 advantage.
Two kills by Garfield kept the Wolves ahead at 8-5. After a kill by Circle’s Jalyn Curtiss and a tip by Alexis Moline tied the score, the Wolves grabbed the lead on a block by Hamilton and a kill by Miller-Toves.
Wolf Point increased the margin to 16-13 on an ace by Hamilton and a kill by Garfield.
Ahead by a 21-20 margin, the Wolves stayed in the lead on a kill and a tip by Hamilton.
With Wolf Point up 23-22, Circle struck for the last three points of the match including two on kills by Gackle.
