Cowboys Roll To Win Over Plentywood

The Culbertson Cowboys clinched one of the top two playoff spots in the conference by earning a 59-19 victory in Plentywood on Friday, Sept. 30.

The Cowboys grabbed a quick 2-0 advantage when Colin Avance made a tackle for a safety. After the ensuing kickoff, Culbertson drove down and scored its first touchdown on a run by Kobe Nickoloff.

Nickoloff, a senior, finished with three touchdowns for the night. Culbertson led 30-6 at the half.

Also scoring touchdowns for Culbertson were Carson Solem, Payton Perkins, Bridger Salvevold and Reese Moon on a kickoff return.

Defensive highlights included middle linebacker Huge Donaldson intercepting two passes. Nickoloff and Moon also picked off passes.

“Defensively, we only gave up one long drive,” Culbertson Coach Brian Manning said. “We turned the ball over a few times and gave them a short field.”

Correction: It was Justice Bengochea who stripped the ball and returned it 67 yards for a touchdown against Circle.

The Cowboys will meet Fairview in a battle for first place on Friday, Oct. 7.
