Review Needed For Economic Development Strategy

Great Northern Development Corporation is seeking community feedback on its next Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy and Economic Recovery and Resiliency Addendum.

The five-year CEDS will be used to shape the economic well-being, resiliency, and quality of life in Northeastern Montana. Before the plan is finalized, a 30-day public review and comment period is required. GNDC encourages everyone within Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt, Garfield and McCone counties to review the proposed plan and provide feedback on what capacity-building efforts will best serve economic development in the region. The draft plan and a link to an online survey to provide feedback can be found on the GNDC website at www.gndc. org. The plan will be available for review and feedback until Oct. 21.

“Thanks to the feedback we received from individuals, organizations, local governments, institutes of learning, and private industry during the last four months, we are excited to share this draft plan for public review and comment,” says Tori Matejovsky, GNDC executive director.

GNDC’s five-year CEDS draft was developed after obtaining input from more than 500 community members from across the six counties; analyzing extensive available data about the area; considering the economic development challenges and opportunities; and evaluating how potential and anticipated risks can impact the region.

GNDC is a nonprofit Economic Development District and Certified Regional Development Corporation, based in Wolf Point since 1996. GNDC provides professional business counseling, community development technical assistance, and economic resiliency planning to the counties of Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt, Garfield and McCone.
