Bainville Downs Absarokee, 30-6

The Bainville Bulldogs must like the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs broke open a close football game with 22 points in the final period to knock off Absarokee, 30-6, on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Bainville accounted for the game’s first touchdown on an eight-yard pass play from Cayden Boyd to Alex Strickland in the first quarter. Strickland kicked the conversion for an 8-0 lead.

The Bulldogs held a slim 8-6 lead until the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs increased their lead on a 20-yard pass from Boyd to Strickland. A kick by Strickland put the margin at 16-6 with about 8:30 remaining.

Bainville next struck on a 32-yard throw by Boyd to Adrian Anderson. Strickland’s kick put the margin at 24-6.

The Bulldogs’ defense then got into the scoring act when Charles Butikofer recovered a fumble and ran 25 yards for a touchdown with about five minutes left.

Coach Shawn Romo said Adrian Anderson accounted for a solid game to lead Bainville’s defensive effort.

“It was a defensive battle until the fourth quarter,” Romo said.

The Bulldogs, 2-1 for the season, travel to Box Elder on Saturday, Sept. 18, to finish their non-conference schedule.
