Garfield Prepares For MMA Fight
Wolf Point’s Mason Garfield will return to the ring for MMA action at the Valley Event Center in Glasgow on Saturday, July 23.
Garfield, 1-0 for his MMA career, will take on an opponent from Billings for the amateur title. The bout will consist of five two-minute rounds.
“I expect to do really well,” said Garfield, who graduated from Wolf Point High School in May.
Garfield said he has been training about an hour and a half six days a week.
He started boxing at a young age. Last February, he placed second at the Class B state wrestling meet. He said he began kick boxing about three years ago.
Garfield said he like MMA fighting the best.
“It’s really technical and I like complicated, technical things,” he noted.
The Fight for the Future VI MMA/boxing event will feature 12 scheduled fights. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fights begin at 7 p.m.
“I want to keep getting fights and move to Missoula and compete in Missoula,” Garfield said of his MMA plans.
