Wolf Point Babe Ruth Falls In Tourney

The Wolf Point Babe Ruth team drew the number one team in the league during the tournament in Glasgow.

Wolf Point faced the Froid Bulls and lost by a 16-3 final.

“We played good for a couple innings. Froid was just better then us,” Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said. “We chose to pitch some of our new pitchers. We had to play a pitch count game.”

The Yellow Jackets then played the Glasgow Nemont team.

“We got out to a two-run lead in the bottom half of the first and they came back with three runs. For two innings, it was a two-run game,” Vandall said. “Then our pitcher ran out of pitches so we had so change because of a pitch count rule and that really got us out of rhythm as a team. They came and put seven runs on the board and earned a 10-run rule.”

Vandall added, “We are really proud of these guys. We made a lot of progress. We had only three kids that played at this level. The rest were either new to baseball or new to Babe Ruth. They did the best that they could. We just need to build our Little League to feed the Babe Ruth. We have good numbers and are trying to do some different things and change some to keep the Little League wanting to play. It’s a hard sell to get 12-15 year old kids to play baseball in the summer with all the basketball tournaments and other sports camps.”

He added, “We will keep working on things in the off season and keep rolling along. I would like to thank all the people that supported us all year. Without your donations and encouragement, it would be hard. The Legion team is in full swing so come on out and support us there.”
