Incentives Approved For Classified Staff

The Wolf Point School Board approved recruitment and retention incentives for classified workers during its meeting Monday, June 13.

All classified staff members who work the entire school year will receive $1,500 by Nov. 20, 2022, and another $1,500 by June 20, 2023, for a total of $3,000. For employees to receive the full incentive, they must be hired and working for the school district by Oct. 31. Employees hired after this date, will be paid $250 for each full month they are employed and it will be paid to them at the end of the school year. School officials said this is a one-time COVID- based incentive. Classified employees are roughly the school district’s employees who are not teachers.

Trustees approved both the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt into the reading K-6 curriculum and Kendall Hunt illustrative mathematics K-12 curriculum.

Curriculum director Dr. Sarah Ruff explained to trustees the benefits of each of the curriculum programs. She noted the work that teachers have done during the process to find the current math curriculum so know the same language is going to be used from kindergarten through the 10th grade.

Resignations included Amy Benson as Southside teacher, Laura Hansen as Southside PK SPED teacher, Tiara Whitmus as part-time Southside para, Brandi Burshia as Northside teacher, Ann Landsrud as Northside secretary, Crystal Zacharius as Northside para, James Macdonald as high school SPED para, Terra Pronto as Northside para, Claine Raining Bird as assistant cook and Richie Tumonong as food services director.
