Clean Sweep Days Scheduled May 11-17

Members of the Wolf Point Beautification Committee are excited to announce that the annual Clean Sweep Days are Monday, May 11, through Sunday, May 17.

The Wolf Point landfill will accept Clean Sweep trash at no charge during those days. The landfill will be open on Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your landfill card if you have one.

Appliances requiring freon removal will be charged a $10 removal fee. Contractor/construction waste will be charged regular rates.

Organizers stress that bagged trash and yard waste can be left curbside, but not in alleys, for city pick up on Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19.

Residents should keep yard waste separate from metal items and bag all leaves.

Help city crews with this extra workload by taking your trash to the landfill on open days if possible.

Although it’s a special scheduled time to spruce up the city, Wolf Point beautification committee members Rosie Kurokawa and Barbara Olson stress that making the community look great should be on the mind of residents throughout the year.

“Take pride, it’s up to the community,” Olson said.

Kurokawa added that she wants people to realize that the committee is just a volunteer group and encourages volunteers to help with the effort.

The Fort Peck Tribes and Fort Peck Housing are partners in Clean Sweep Days.

Olson encourages residents to help their neighboring elders by cleaning up their lots.

Members of the beautification committee, which started in 1989, are thankful to the Lions Club, the Optimist Club, hospital employees, high school groups and Gospel Fellowship Church for cleaning up portions of the town.
