Wolf Point’s boys’ distance runners led the pack during the District 2B track meet held in Glasgow on Saturday, May 14.

Between Peyton Summers, Ethan Blount and Kholby SpottedWolf, the Wolves accounted for 44 points in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

Summers, a sophomore, earned first in the 1600 with a time of 4:45.43 and first in the 3200 at 10:10.21.

Blount, a senior, finished second in the 1600 at 4:47.95 and second in the 3200 at 10:28.61.

SpottedWolf, a senior, placed third in the 3200 at 10:36.02 and fifth in the 1600 at 5:04.62.

“It’s our goal,” Summers said of having the three great finishes during the distance races. “I’m pretty happy with my time, but the wind made it tough.”

After SpottedWolf missed a couple of meets due to injury, Summers was glad that the Wolves are now at full force.

“We have Kholby back to help us,” Summers said.

Wolf Point’s boys finished with 95 points for third place at the district meet. The top two teams were Glasgow with 191.66 points and Malta with 155 points.

The Lady Wolves scored 31 points for fifth place. Glasgow topped the standings with 202 points and Malta placed second with 169 points.

Maddox Reum accounted for a solid meet to help Wolf Point’s boys. The sophomore finished second in the 100 at 11.76 seconds and 200 at 24.11 seconds.

Kraven Silk, a junior, placed third in the 200 at 24.98 and third in the 400 at 56.93 seconds.

Mason Garfield, a senior, earned third in the discus with a best of 133-7 and third in the shot put at 42-6.

Wolf Point’s boys’ 400-meter relay team featuring Charlie Page, Silk, Reum and Garfield finished third at 48.42 seconds.

Summers took fourth in the 800 at 2:12.17. Page placed sixth in the shot put with a best of 39-4.

The javelin event was the highlight for Wolf Point’s girls’ team as Katelyn Mac-Donald earned top honors with a mark of 105-7 and Josie Kolstad placed fourth with a mark of 88-11.

MacDonald, a junior, hit her winning distance on her first throw of the competition held in windy conditions.

Kolstad, a senior, was sitting in just sixth place after the wind took two of her throws out of bounds during finals. She moved up to fourth place when her last throw was her best on the day.

Kylie Rodenberg finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.67 seconds. The sophomore also qualified for the divisional meet in the long jump with a best of 13-0 for sixth place.

The 400-meter relay team featuring Azalei Ackerman, Adeia Erickson, Kolstad and Rodenberg took fourth place at 58.06 seconds.

Placing fifth were MacDonald with a mark of 31-8 in the shot put and Kolstad with a time of 1:08.43 in the 400.

The divisional meet is May 21 in Great Falls.
