Poplar’s track athletes enjoyed success at the Gene Nelson Memorial Invitational as the Indians took fourth in the boys’ division with 46 points and sixth in the girls’ division with 39 points on Friday, May 6.

Kamberon Reum finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.47 seconds. Kaniel Ricker placed second in the race at 45.47 seconds.

Poplar’s boys’ 400-meter relay team featuring Delray Lilley, Geordy Medicine Cloud, Reum and Ricker finished second at 48.56 seconds.

Ricker placed third in the triple jump at 38-4 and sixth in the long jump at 17-9.

Medicine Cloud earned third in the 400 at 57.86 seconds and sixth in the 200 at 25.20 seconds.

Placing fifth were Lilley in the 200 at 25.02, Blake Lambert in the 110-meter hurdles in 22.34 seconds and Walker Burshia in the shot put at 36-08.

In the javelin, Canaan Boyd took eighth at 108-11 and Cameron Spotted Bird was ninth at 103-7. Lilley was ninth in the long jump at 17-5 and seventh in the 100 at 12.72.

Jazmin Gorder led Poplar’s girls by taking second in the 3200 at 12:38.62 and fifth in the 400 at 1:08.20.

Bailey Dupree finished third in the 300-meter hurdles at 51.77 and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.16 seconds.

Jazmyn CarryWater finished third in the 800 at 2:43.48. Reinita Irizarry took fifth in the 800 at 2:47.13 and Mattie Ayers was eighth at 2:53.76.

The 1600-meter relay team of CarryWater, Dupree, Irizarry and Gorder finished second at 4:48.32.

Teagan Escarcega took fifth in the discus at 80-9 and seventh in the shot put at 26-5. Kelcie Strauser was sixth in the discus at 79-1 and Kessee Erickson was seventh at 76-6.

Rebecca Gorder took ninth in the javelin at 86-0. Carry-Water finished 10th in the 400 at 1:11.15.
