Indians Have Solid Showing In Glasgow

 

The Poplar Indians accounted for 42 points in the girls’ division and 25 points in the boys’ division during the Jean Dreikosen Memorial Track Meet in Glasgow on Saturday, May 7.

Earning top honors for Poplar’s girls were Mattie Ayers with a time of 13:55.98 in the 3200 and Bailey Dupree with a time of 52.87 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

Dupree, a freshman, placed second in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.7 seconds.

Teagan Escarcega earned second in the javelin at 62-8 and seventh in the discus at 84-8. Jazmyn CarryWater placed third in the 3200 at 14:10.23. Rebecca Gorder took eighth in the discus at 76-9.

Poplar’s boys’ 400-meter relay team featuring of Delray Lilley, Geordy Medicine Cloud, Kameron Reum and Kaniel Ricker finished second at 49.19 seconds.

Placing fourth were Medicine Cloud at 2:26.34 in the 800, Navarjo Escarcega at 12:25.62 in the 3200 and Blake Lambert at 22.10 in the 110-meter hurdles. Kaniel Ricker had a mark of 17-2 for fifth in the long jump.

Finesse Headdress finished fifth in the 800 at 2:54.62 and Walker Burshia placed sixth in the shot put at 34-6. Cameron Spotted Bird was 10th in the javelin at 96-7.

The Indians will compete at the District 2B in Glasgow on Saturday, May 14.
