Fourstar Named To Wolf Point Council

Lance Fourstar is the newest addition to the Wolf Point City Council. He ran unopposed and was sworn in by Judge Traci Harada Dec. 22 at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
“I have worked throughout my life within the government, business and nonprofit aspects of society,” said Fourstar. “I have a good idea how to be a voice as a public servant.”
Fourstar’s nephew, Trey, 21, died Dec. 25.
“My nephew Trey was outstanding in all he did,” said Fourstar. “He was a future leader and a rising star that left us too soon. We need more Trey Fourstars in our community. He knew that what he did best was help and inspire others to do the same. I want to help our community and am honored to serve in this capacity as a councilman on the Wolf Point City Council. Like my nephew, we are direct descendants of Chief Redstone, the “Grandfather of Montana.” I am sure there haven’t been too many Assiniboine tribal members on the city council. I believe that we need leadership that transcends racial and socioeconomic lines, working in the best interest of our constituents.”
Said Wolf Point mayor Chris Dschaak, “I’m extremely happy to see more people wanting to serve the community by being on the city council.”
Dschaak said the remaining open seat is being contested by Carrie Manning and Nourah AbuShaban. He said a determination will be made before the next council meeting Jan. 18.
“The last contested race that I remember was when I ran for mayor in 2013 and now we have two candidates to fill the last position in Ward 4. We will start this new year with a full and ready council that are ready to work for the citizens of Wolf Point as we continue on the improvements needed to our city.“
