Wolf Point Beats Class B Squads
Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball squad knocked off Class B opponents Shepherd and St. Labre during the Lockwood Tournament on Friday, Dec. 10, and Saturday, Dec. 11.
“Our goal is to get better every week,” Wolf Point Coach Troy Blount said. “We have a good group of boys who are coachable. These guys are working hard.”
The Wolves downed Shepherd by a 57-45 final on Friday.
The Wolves led 28-25 at the half and 44-30 after three quarters of play.
Wolf Point’s top scorers were Juliun Benson with 17, Kelby Bauer with 13 and Jaxon Azure with 12 points.
Also scoring were Kraven Silk with four, Ethan Blount with four, Corey Martell with four and Gaige Bushman with three.
The Wolves then outscored St. Labre, 73-44, on Saturday.
Wolf Point struck for the last seven points of the first quarter on a fast-break basket by Benson, a three-pointer by Jack Sprague and a layup by Azure for an 18-6 advantage.
Five points by Silk and a drive by Shastin Damon increased the margin to 25-8 to open the second quarter. Ahead by a 39-18 score, the Wolves ran off the last eight points of the second quarter on a basket by Bowers, two free throws by Benson, a three-pointer by Silk and a free throw by Azure for a 4718 half-time lead. The Wolves enjoyed a 61-35 advantage after the third quarter.
Top scorers for Wolf Point were Silk with 14, Bowers with 13, Benson with 13 and Martell with 11.
Also scoring were Azure with nine, Sprague with seven, Blount with four and Damon with two.
The Wolves will travel to Poplar on Friday, Dec. 10, and host Malta Saturday, Dec. 11.
