Local Gymnasts Place At Dickinson Meet Local Gymnasts Place At Dickinson Meet

 

The Eastern Montana Gymnastics Team opened its 2021-2022 season in Dickinson, N.D., Dec. 5. The EMG gymnasts captured two firstplace team awards and five individual first-place awards. Fourteen girls competed for the Circle gym at the annual Dullum Gymnastics Meet, which was held at the Dickinson High School. The EMG Silver Team won first place, out of four teams, and the EMG Gold Team won first place, out of three teams. Silver gymnasts Ashlynn Johannessen of Wolf Point won first place on vault and DaRae Deserly and Nomi Deserly Wolf Point tied for first place for her all-around score. Gold gymnast Ava Hove of Circle won first place on uneven bars and tied for first place on floor. Bronze gymnast Jud Rehbein of Richey was tied for first on bars.

This was the first competitive meet for silver gymnast Azzy Toavs of Wolf Point and bronze gymnasts Rehbein and Mya Verschoot, both of Richey, and Juliette Freeman of Circle. All the other EMG gymnasts that competed are returning gymnasts.

Five girls competed for the EMG gold team, out of the gold gymnasts. Lina Smith of Richey led her team with second- place finishes on vault and for her all-around, third place on beam, a tie for fifth on floor and eighth on bars. Kendra Linder of Glendive was only .1 behind for third place all-around and was second on floor, third on beam and vault and fourth on bars.

Besides her first-place finishes on floor and bars, Ava Hove was fourth on beam and tied for fourth for her allaround. Justine Massar and Ella Beery, both of Circle, also competed for the gold team and had their best finishes on beam and floor for Massar and bars and floor for Beery.

Six EMG gymnasts competed in the silver level of 18 gymnasts. Besides DaRae Deserly’s first-place tie for all-around, she was second on beam and fourth on vault and bars. Johannessen was not far behind and, besides her first place vault, was fourth for her all-around and floor. Nomi Deserly was second on bars, seventh on vault and beam and eighth for her all-around. Kynlee Houck of Glendive was fifth on bars and ninth for her all-around. Toavs of Wolf Point was fifth for beam. Emma Hove of Circle competed only on floor.

Three EMG girls competed in the Bronze Level of 18 gymnasts. Rehbein was tied for first on bars. She also was tied for ninth on floor with Verschoot. Freeman was fifth on floor.

Gold Scores (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor, All-Around): Smith (8.95, 8.4, 8.6, 8.7, 34.65), Linder (8.65, 8.6, 8.4, 8.9, 34.55), A. Hove (7.7, 9.05, 8.6, 9.0, 34.35) Beery (7.6, 8.0, 7.7, 7.95, 31.25), Massar (7.25, 7.5, 8.05, 8.4, 31.2).

Silver Scores: D. Deserly (9.1, 9.0, 9.1, 8.15, 35.35), Johannessen (9.3, 8.6, 8.6, 8.6, 35.1), N. Deserly (8.95, 9.05, 8.9, 7.65, 34.55), Houck (8.65, 8.95, 8.55, 8.25, 34.4), Toavs (8.8, 6.9, 9.0, 7.9, 32.6), E. Hove (0, 0, 0, 8.3, 8.3).

Bronze Scores: Rehbein (7.95, 9.1, 8.25, 8.0, 33.3), Freeman (8.3, 7.3, 8.45, 8.3, 32.35), Verschoot (8.15, 4.5, 8.5, 8.0, 29.15).

The EMG 2021-2022 team consists of 21 gymnasts and are from Circle, Wolf Point, Richey and Glendive. EMG’s next meet will be in Mandan, N.D., during January.
