Lustre News

Lustre Christian High School has 30 students, of which nine are dorm students. Rick Cattell, principal of LCHS, announced that one of our seniors, Kolden Hoversland, has signed to play basketball for Dawson Community College next year.

Parents and grandparents have enjoyed watching the jamboree and junior high leagues play basketball under the leadership of Randy Reddig (boys’ coach) and Lisa Neufeld (girls’ coach). They have played well together, with good assists and several wins.

Curt and Lisa Neufeld moved north, but are still involved in the Lustre community. Reuben and Tiffany Garner and family have moved back to Lustre. We are thankful for the various families who have returned home to run farms and have kept our grade school going. Among them are the Klatts, Schillers, Marotteks and Holzrichers.

LCHS honor roll and honorable mentions for the first quarter of the school year have been named. Those students include Kaleb Hoversland, Kolden Hoversland, Sean Uy, Gabriel Alves, Aexander Chen, Bryan Chen, Elijah Lenihan, Grace Brown, Cayden Klatt, Naveen Pilla, Alexa Reddig, Mason Hilkemann, Hannah Morasco and Abby Olfert. Honorable mention went to Doven Birdsbill, Rebekah Jossart, Aubri Holzricher, Sarah Dahl, Jaden Gibson, Anna Teichroew and Clay Reddig.

Condolences go to Larry Unger and family in the death of Charlotte Unger on Oct. 3 and to Ron Reddig and family in the death of his wife, Jeri, Nov. 4. These were longtime residents of Lustre. Jesse Sauskojus gave us word that his mother, Gerane Sauskojus, 92, died Nov. 5. She had moved closer to her sons after her husband, Gerhard, died.

College students away from home include Diego Froiland, attending Yellowstone Christian College in Kalispell; Megan Fast, attending Bismarck State; Josh Brown, attending Montana Wilderness School of the Bible near Augusta; Zachary Brown, attending Montana State University Northern in Havre and Kaitlyn Brown at Montana State in Bozeman.
