The Wolf Point National Honor Society ceremony included the induction of 14 new members from the high school on Thursday, Oct. 7.

Wolf Point’s new members include Tia Nygard, Ethan Blount, Benjamin Boysun, Kamea Fourstar, Samantha Reed, Katelyn MacDonald, Jerome Fourstar, Piper Ruffing, J’Elle Garfield, Mahala Moran, Rebekah Landsrud, Julianna Garfield, Aaron Boysun and Trinity Keiser.

Current members included Hamyanie Campbell, Claire Kinzie, Laykin Cantrell, Jack Sprague, Josie Kolstad, Daniel Sears and Alexander MacDonald.

Corey Reum served as the ceremony’s guest speaker.

Reum’s experience includes being in law enforcement and serving as a Wolf Point School Board trustee for the last five years. He has been selected officer of the year by the Wolf Point VFW, Wolf Point Elks and U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Indian Services.

He told the students that he worked in law enforcement for 20 years and that he learned about character while attending a leadership course. He said character is doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Reum discovered his real passion was helping kids. As an officer, he would check on kids walking on the streets and ask why they weren’t in school. He wanted to make sure they got a ride and that they knew somebody cared about them. He told students to call him if they ever need a ride to avoid a dangerous or illegal situation.

He said the three most important things to him are his God, his family and his job.

The program included Hamyanie Campbell, Claire Kinzie, Daniel Sears, Alexander MacDonald and Jack Sprague taking part in a candle lighting ceremony.
