Lady Wolves Drop Home Match Against Malta Squad

The Lady Wolves suffered a three-set volleyball loss against Malta at home on Saturday, Oct. 9. Malta scored a 25-20, 25-19, 25-14 victory.
Wolf Point fell behind 8-1 in the first set, but the Wolves were able to battle back to 8-4 on a spike by Sierra Hamilton and a serve by Kylie Rodenberg.
With Malta up by a 21-14 margin, Wolf Point got as close as 21-17 on a kill by J’Elle Garfield and an ace by Azalei Ackerman.
A back-row kill by Katelyn MacDonald pulled the Wolves to 23-19, but Malta’s final point came on a kill by Skylie Lefdahl.
After falling behind 11-2 in the second set, the Wolves fought back to 16-9 on an ace by MacDonald and a kill by Garfield. A kill by Hamilton cut the gap to 18-12.
The strong serving of Hamilton led the Wolves back to a 18-15. An ace by Ackerman kept the Wolves close at 19-17.
After Malta increased its lead, a block by Adeia Erickson closed the margin to 2318. The M-Ettes held on for a 25-19 win.
In the third set, the Wolves trailed 16-10 until a block by Hamilton and an ace by MacDonald. The net play of Kaylee Bishop increased Malta’s lead to 19-13.
After a kill by Hamilton pulled the Wolves to 20-14, Malta scored the final five points of the match.
The Wolves will travel to Baker on Thursday, Oct. 14, and Harlem on Friday, Oct. 15.
