Wolf Point’s football team lost a 28-27 overtime heartbreaking game in Roundup on Friday, Sept. 17. The Wolves were ahead by a 21-7 margin entering the fourth quarter, but Roundup forced overtime with two touchdowns in the final period.

“It was a tough game. Offensively. we had a lot of turnovers that kept us from keeping a consistent offense rolling,” Wolf Point Coach Anthony Red Cloud said. “Defensively we played well. Our defense and the special teams’ play kept us up in the ball game.”

On the first play of overtime, the Wolves reached the end zone on a 10-yard run by Corey Martell for a 27-21 advantage. The Wolves failed on a twopoint conversion run attempt.

Roundup scored on second down with a one-yard quarterback sneak play. The Panthers then kicked the conversion for the 28-27 win.

“We just let it slip away in the end. Roundup played hard and had a lot of momentum,” Red Cloud said. “We competed hard and just couldn’t come away with it in the end.”

Martell ran for two touchdowns and 124 yards on 18 carries in the contest.
