The Wolf Point Wolves posted a league volleyball victory in Poplar by a 25-8, 25-23, 25-18, final on Thursday, Sept. 16.

In the opening set, the Wolves jumped out to a 7-0 advantage with the strong serving of Katelyn Mac-Donald leading the way. After Poplar closed the gap to 7-2 on an ace by EmmaRae Martell, the net play of Sierra Hamilton put the Wolves ahead 12-3.

The Wolves were able to increase their advantage to 20-6 with the serving of Sarah Williamson being a highlight. After an ace by Hamyanie Campbell put the score at 22-7, the Wolves ended the set at 25-8 on an ace by MacDonald.

Wolf Point gained an 11-7 advantage in the second set, Poplar pulled to 11-9 on kills by Morgen Nordwick and Madison Dehner.

Aces by Dehner and Trinniti Garrett kept the Indians close, but a kill by Kaleah Miller-Toves put the Wolves ahead 20-16.

The serving of Kenzie Smith led the Indians back for a 20-20 deadlock. A kill and ace by Nordwick gave Poplar a 22-21 advantage.

A kill by J’Elle Garfield pulled the Wolves even. With the score deadlocked at 2323, the Wolf Point accounted for the final two points on an ace by Garfield and a tip by Hamilton.

In the third set, Wolf Point led by only a 10-8 margin early, but two aces by Williamson helped increase the gap to 20-11.

A kill by Adeia Erickson and an ace by MacDonald down the stretch put the match away.

Hamilton led the Wolves with nine kills. MacDonald finished with seven aces and four digs.

Kylie Rodenberg had 20 set assists. Garfield and Erickson each had a block.

Leaders for the Indians included Nordwick with seven kills and Martell with five assists and five digs.

Dehner finished with two aces and three blocks.
