Some “Over-The-Counter” Licenses Available

Monday, Aug. 9, marked the day when some licenses are available “over-the-counter,” including the 006-00 antlerless white-tailed deer license in Region 6. Every hunter is allowed one 006-00 license, and the license is valid in all R6 hunting districts. Other regions have other opportunities available as well. Please see the 2021 deer-elk-antelope hunter regulations for more information.

There are many districts with surplus white-tail B, mule deer B, and elk B licenses that were not allocated through the June 1 drawing. To administer these surplus licenses, they will first be offered to those who signed up for the surplus license list by July 21.

If a hunter signed up for the surplus license list, they can check their MyFWP account or go to “Lookup Draw Results” at https://myfwp. mt.gov/fwpExtPortal/login/ login.jsp to see their status. Emails should have been sent on Friday, Aug. 6. for those who were successful in this first opportunity. If purchasing online, go to “Surplus Item Types” to purchase.

If successful, hunters have five days to purchase the surplus license(s) they’re eligible for through the online licensing system or at a license provider or FWP office. Hunters must finalize the purchase of the license(s) within the timeframe specified in the email, otherwise, the opportunity will be offered to the next hunter on the randomized list.

Licenses that remain after the surplus license lists are exhausted will be offered for sale at a later date. Continue to check fwp.mt.gov or the FWP Region 6 Facebook page for more information or updates.
