Groups Improve Look At Burkie Field

Thanks to a strong community effort, the American Legion baseball field at Bergie Park is certainly looking a lot better.

On Tuesday, July 27, workers included school district employees, Jory Erickson, custodial staff from the school, school superintendent Loverty Erickson and Jeromy Azure with girls’ basketball players. Baseball board president Jaronn Boysun was very pleased with all the work that was accomplished including painting the backstops, painting the dugouts, weed-eating and mowing.

“They rocked and roll everything,” baseball board member Chris Dschaak said. “They did a great job.”

Erickson said she felt it was beneficial for the school district to get involved with the improvements. “All our kids are up here,” Erickson said of the activity at the field.

The baseball board feels that there’s still a large list of projects to work on with the goal of upgrading the facility.

That list includes re-doing the dugouts, taking down the trees in the back, improving the bleachers, upgrading the crow’s next and maybe putting a roof over some of the bleachers.
