Poplar Squad Places Second In New Town

The Poplar’s girls’ basketball team earned second place in the seventh- eighth grade division during the Rockettes Summer Shoot-out held in New Town, N.D.

Poplar opened play by defeating the Lady Warriors of Standing Rock, S.D. Poplar then lost to the Lakeside team from New Town.

Poplar bounced back by winning games over Mandaree, N.D., and the Lady Warriors.

In the championship round, Poplar downed Lakeside of New Town in one game of the double-elimination tournament. New Town then edged Poplar in the title contest.
