Mycel Young


Mycel Harry “Mikey” Young, “Thašúŋka Dúta,” Red Horse, 34, died June 26, 2021, at the Poplar Hospital.
He was born in Williston, N.D., on June 12, 1987, to Sarah Lou Three Stars and Orlando Moses Young Sr. He lived his life in Poplar. He attended Poplar Schools and graduated in 2006. He worked as a Fort Peck Tribes Juvenile Detention Center guard, Fort Peck Tribes Fish and Game warden, at Wolf Point Sand and Gravel, Fort Peck Tribes Office of Environmental Protection and as a fencing laborer.
He enjoyed playing basketball; dancing with his grandfather, Harry Three Stars, cruising around listening to music with his “kids” (his dogs); and joking around making everyone laugh. He was a gentle giant, enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his sister, Ashley Vondall; his baby, 'Rosie'; grandparents, Naomi Young, Juanita (Doug) Youngman, Louise Smith, and Beverly 'Shags' Bird.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Orlando Moses Young Jr.
His funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment followed at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements
