Yellow Jackets Look Forward To Season

With a solid group of returning players back, the Wolf Point Yellowjackets aim to be competitive in the American Legion baseball race this season.

Coach Ray Ostby said there are about 20 players in the Babe Ruth/Legion ranks including 13 Babe Ruth players. “We would like more Legion players,” Ostby said.

Returning players include Terry Allmer at pitcher and first base. Allmer gained a good deal of experience this school year playing for a twoyear college at Penn State.

Other players back include Trevin Boyson, outfielder Kelby Bauer, Preston Swenson and Charlie Page. Canyon Casterline will catch and play shortstop.

Pitching could be a strength with Allmer, Page and Boyson.

The Babe Ruth team has been playing on Fridays and Sundays. The district Babe Ruth tournament is scheduled for June 11-13 in Plentywood. The Babe Ruth district includes Froid, Plentywood, Scobey and Glasgow.

The first home game for the Yellowjackets is June 22.

July 1: Glasgow, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

July 7: Billings Cardinals, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

July 13: at Billings Cardinals, 5 and 7 p.m.

July 14: at Billings Blue Jays, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

July 17: Miles City Mavericks, 1 and 3 p.m.

July 18: Laurel Dodgers, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
