Perez Makes Not Guilty Pleas To Drug Charges
Christian Alexander Perez of Williston, N.D., made not guilty pleas for the charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute and criminal possession of dangerous drugs in district court on Tuesday, May 25.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for June 16. The trial was scheduled for Aug. 12.
If convicted of the possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute charge, Perez faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. If convicted of the possession of dangerous drugs charge, he faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
According to court records, Perez was arrested on April 24, in Wolf Point with 18.44 grams of meth.
Perez’s attorney Sally Kay Hickok requested a reduction of bond from $50,000 to $20,000.
Roosevelt County Attorney Frank A. Piocos argued to keep the bond amount at $50,000. Piocos noted that Perez’s bond was reduced from $25,000 to $5,000 in March for another charge, and then Perez was arrested again a month later.
District judge David J. Cybulski reduced the bond to $20,000 and the condition that Perez is placed under house arrest in Williston.
