Vera Blaisdell

Vera Rosina Galster Blaisdell, 94, died May 12, 2021, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow.

She was born to Jacob and Caroline Pfennig on Nov. 4, 1926, in Beulah, N.D.

She married Ewald Galster, her childhood neighbor, on Dec. 23, 1945, in Beulah where they continued to farm and eventually opened a grocery store in Dawson, N.D.

In 1963, they moved to Wolf Point, where she worked as a cook for Trinity Hospital, the Elks Club and the Sherman Motor Inn. She was also the activity director for Faith Lutheran Home. After 37 years of marriage, Ewald died in 1983, prompting her to move to Wenatchee, Wash., to be closer to her daughter, Lavern, where she met and married Joe Blaisdell. After his death, she moved to Glasgow to be close to her son, Jerry.

She was an avid crossstitcher, crocheter and lover of solitaire.

She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon Abraham, Lavern Baker, Diane Kunda and Kathleen Galster; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great- great- grandchild; brothers, Erwin and Wilbur Pfennig; and sister, Elda Link.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ewald Galster and Joe Blaisdell; son, Sherald “Jerry” Galster; brothers, Elden, Melvin and Harold; and sisters, Erma Morast and Lorene Seagar.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
