Tennis Players Qualify For State Meet Tennis Players Qualify For State Meet

Wolf Point qualified four athletes for the state tennis meet during the divisional tourney in Baker Thursday, May 13, and Friday, May 14.

The doubles team of Jodi Houg and Mikaya Smoker- Dewitt earned first-place honors. They defeated Baker’s Graham/Barkley in the championship match.

Wolf Point’s Demi Kegley placed second in singles. Baker’s Tai Setine won the singles’ title.

Angelica Sutton placed fourth in singles to qualify for the state meet.

The Wolves finished with 41 points. Baker took first with 46 points.

“Everyone played so well, I’m very proud of our Wolves,” coach Dan Horsmon said.

Julie Garfield and Mahala MacDonald scored a couple victories in singles. Kaleah Miller-Toves and Kalee Johnson earned one win in doubles.

Poplar scored 12 points at the tournament.

“Overall, I am very proud of my players,” Poplar coach Aaron Snyder said. “They went out and played their hearts out until the end.”

The state meet starts Thursday, May 20, in Missoula.
