The Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball put together some good moments but lost to Glendive, 63-46, in home non-conference play on Thursday, Feb. 11.

Wolf Point trailed by a 37-19 half-time margin and a 45-27 score midway into the third quarter, but the Wolves battled back with the next nine points on four points by Zander Ackerman, a three-pointer by Antone Manning and a baseline shot by Kelby Bauer to pull to 45-36 with 2:31 left in the period.

After Glendive scored on a drive by Riley Basta and two free throws by Parker Buckley, a drive by Manning closed the gap to 49-38 at the end of the third quarter.

The Red Devils accounted for the first nine points of the fourth period to take control at 58-38 with 5:45 left.

After Glendive opened the contest by taking a 15-5 lead, Wolf Point fought back to 19-11 on a 16-footer by Bauer, an inside shot by Corey Martell and a hoop by Jack Sprague to cut the gap to 19-11 at the end of the opening quarter.

A drive by Ackerman pulled the Wolves to 23-17 with 4:42 left in the half. The Red Devils responded with the game’s next 11 points.

A three-pointer by 6-6 sophomore Michael Murphy put the Red Devils up 37-19 at the half.

Wolf Point’s JVs won by a 51-35 final.

Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball squad couldn’t overcome a poor start as the Wolves lost at Malta, 65-56, on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Malta jumped out to a 19-11 advantage in the first quarter and increased the margin to 39-19 at the half.

Wolf Point outscored the Mustangs by a 23-12 margin in the fourth quarter.

Antone Manning led the Wolves with 24 points. Zander Ackerman scored nine points.

Also scoring were Kelby Bauer with eight, Corey Martell with five, Jack Sprague with five and Kraven Silk with five.

Leading Malta were Connor Tuss with 23 and Kooper Oxarart with 18 points.
