Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad dropped games against Malta, Glendive and Scobey during the week.

Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team lost by a 38-20 final in Glendive on Thursday, Feb. 11 Glendive gained a 10-2 lead in the first quarter. The Red Devils increased the margin to 23-9 at the half.

J’Elle Garfield led the Wolves with six points.

Also scoring were Katelyn MacDonald with five, Jaylee Azure with four, Sierra Hamilton with three and Josie Kolstad with two.

Leading Glendive were Jillian Litwiller and Madison Wahl with 14 points each.

Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad lost to Malta, 69-32, in conference action on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

After jumping out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter, Malta led by a 37-20 half-time margin.

Malta then outscored Wolf Point by a 19-4 margin in the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Wolves were J’Elle Garfield with 10 and Hamyanie Campbell with eight.

Also scoring were Jaylee Azure with six, Sierra Hamilton with four, Jodi Houg with two and Katelyn MacDonald with two.

Leading Malta were Kylee Nelson with 16, Allison Kunze with 15, Kylie Hunter with 13 and Justine Lamb with 12.

Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team put up a good fight before losing to Scobey, 40-36, at home on Saturday, Feb. 13.

The Wolves accounted for the first half ’s last seven points on a three-point play by J’Elle Garfield, a drive by Josie Kolstad and a 12-footer by Jaylee Azure to take a 20-16 advantage.

Four straight points by Kolstad, including a basket after a steal by Jodi Houg, put Wolf Point’s lead to 26-18.

Scobey closed the margin to 27-23 to end the third quarter.

The Spartans tied the game, 27-27, on two free throws by Ryleigh Backman and a pullup jumper by Gracee Lekvold to open the fourth quarter.

Wolf Point regained the lead on a basket by Garfield. A hoop by Kolstad, off a pass from Katelyn MacDonald, gave the Wolves a 31-27 lead with 4:42 remaining.

Scobey gained control with the next 11 points for a 38-31 lead. Highlighting the streak were a three-pointer by Whitley Maher and four points by Lekvold.

Kolstad connected on a three-pointer to cut the margin to 38-34 with 1:27 left, but the Wolves couldn’t get any closer.

Wolf Point’s top scorers were Kolstad with 12 and Garfield with 11. Hamyanie Campbell finished with nine points. Azure and Sierra Hamilton scored two points each.

Leading Scobey were Lekvold with 18 and Whitney Maher with eight points.

The Wolves led 7-5 at the end of the first quarter. Campbell scored all seven of Wolf Point’s points in the period.

Wolf Point will host Harlem on Thursday, Feb. 18, Glasgow on Friday, Feb. 19, and Malta on Saturday, Feb. 20.
