Educators Receive Support From Sheridan Electric
Eleven area educators have been awarded funds through the North Eastern Montana Opportunity Education Foundation. The foundation was created by the Sheridan Electric Cooperative in response to a need expressed by area schools in Montana.
Sheridan Electric Cooperative is passionate about helping the service territory in any way possible. Eight years ago, the cooperative started a new program to help pay for lineman/electrician training after high school. With this newly established program, it will help schools retain teachers within their first three years of employment by issuing a $1,000 check to them after an application process.
Last year, there were 12 applicants and 11 checks were presented. The other individual was outside of the threeyear parameters.
Recipients were Kylie Hendrickson, Charles “Michael” Ranger, Renee Bliven and “Annie” Luanne Tillery Waldow, all of Medicine Lake; Sunny DeCoteau and Brittny Marchwick-Wix, both of Brockton; Chance Hyatt, Edward Zink and David Powell, all of Bainville; Shavon Olson of Plentywood; and Ashlen Pacella of Froid. This April, officials will start the process all over again. Last year’s recipients will be eligible to apply again if they fall within the first three years of teaching in the district. New teachers to the area or those who did not apply last year and meet the requirements can also apply.
