Poplar Girls Score Win Over Fairview

Poplar’s girls’ basketball team got back on the winning track by earning a 51-27 victory in Fairview on Friday, Jan. 8.

“We came together a little better,” Poplar Coach Terri Christian said. “It was a complete team effort.”

The Indians jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter and led 25-16 at intermission.

Poplar increased its advantage to 37-20 in the third quarter.

Top scorers for Poplar were Jazmyn CarryWater with 15 points, Macey Dionne with nine, Morgen Nordwick with eight and Keandra Martell with seven.

Martell had three steals in the victory.

“We kind of turned things around in the game,” Christian said.

Poplar’s boys lost by a 71- 48 final in Fairview on Friday, Jan. 8.

The Indians trailed 22-9 at the end of the first quarter and 44-19 at the half.

Poplar accounted for 18 points in the final quarter.

Hunter Sharbono scored 28 points for Fairview. Paul Hardy and Brady Buxbaum each added nine points.

The Indians will host Malta on Friday, Jan. 15, and Glasgow on Saturday, Jan. 16.
