Reduced Service Planned For Amtrak Empire Builder

Amtrak will cut service later this year on most of its long-distance routes nationwide to three times a week instead of the current daily service because ridership has fallen significantly during the coronavirus pandemic. Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said June 17 that the cuts will take effect Oct. 1 and remain in place until at least the summer of 2021. Woods added that daily service

These scholarships are for Valley County graduates who are past their first year of education with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 and considered full-time status in a college, university or vocation- technical institution. Froid Offers Bus Service To Pools In Culbertson, Medicine Lake

The swimming pools in Culbertson and Medicine Lake are currently open to visitors, with alternating, twice-weekly bus service scheduled from Froid on Tuesdays (to Culbertson) and Thursdays (to Medicine Lake). Buses leave the Froid School gym at 12:30 p.m. and return at 4 p.m. The Medicine Lake pool is now open every day from 1-5 p.m. and in the evenings from 6-9 p.m. Water aerobics are offered

NOAA Warns Extreme Heat, Dry Conditions

Drought conditions have been recently deteriorating over areas of the North Central U.S. (Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming). Abnormally dry conditions have recently expanded as well. A recent increase in atmospheric demand (i.e., crop water use) is starting to cause some stress on rangeland, grassland and crops as soil moisture availability is decreasing.
