Catherine Sweet, 83, of Watertown, S.D., formerly of McCabe, Mont., passed away at the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown early Sunday morning, Sept. 20, 2020. Her funeral service and a complete obituary will be announced by the Everson - Coughlin Funeral Home in Williston, N.D. Catherine was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Hazen, Ark., to Frank and Stella (Sulewski) Kowalczyk. The family moved from Arkansas to Roundup, Mont., in April 1937. She grew up in Roundup and graduated from the Roundup High School with the class of 1954. She married Raymond Sweet on Feb. 21, 1955, in Roundup, Mont. They moved to Bismarck, N.D., for six months, then to Culbertson, Mont., for half the remaining year and then to Ed Hansen place in McCabe, Mont., off and on for about 45 to 50 years. They raised their three children, Evelyn, Paul and David. They bought a house in the town of McCabe. From 1980 to 2000, Catherine worked in the Roosevelt Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home as a cook’s helper, dishwasher and cook until she retired to take care of Ray and the family until Ray retired. Catherine is survived by her family: daughter, Evelyn Heckmun of Culbertson and her family Danny (Jessie) Ray, Bucky and Randy (Debbie) and their children Natalie and Jerome, all of Culbertson, Mont.; a son, Paul and his wife, Deborah Sweet, and their family Ricky and Michael Audus and Brandy (Jake) Jensen, and their family Xander, Logan, Dominic and Gabriel, all of Canton, S.D., and Marcus of Wolf Point, Mont.; a son, David, whom preceded her in death, he never married but stayed home to help his parents, until his death in February of 2007; one brother, Harry Kowakczyk of Roundup, Mont.; two sisters, Emily Schenck and Celia Richie of Lewistown, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sweet; a son, David Sweet; her parents; three brothers; one sister; and a sister-in-law.
