The Frazer Bearcubs have three starters returning back this season and are looking for good results.

Returning starters for Frazer include Justine Smoker, Ameri Lorentz, Angel Nelligan and Angeline White.

After coaching Frazer’s boys basketball team the last two seasons, Myron Jackson is also coaching the girls’ squad this year.

“It’s pretty much the same,” Jackson said of coaching the girls. “I can’t really compare yet.”

Jackson is hopeful that the Bearcubs will find success on the basketball court this season.

“It’s tough to say right now,” Jackson said, and added that some players haven’t been able to make it to practice. “We haven’t see everybody here often.”

The Bearcubs feature some height with Lorentz at 5-10 and White at 5-10.

“The rest are fairly short but quick,” Jackson said of his players.

Other players include Adrianna IronCloud, Liana Jackson, Halle Kelsey, Shakira Beston, Evelyn YellowHammer, Bailey Beston and Audree Smoker.

“I’m confident what we can do,” Jackson said. “But everything is work. We have to put the work in.”

He expects Scobey and North Country to be the top teams in the league.

“They are all going to be pretty tough,” the coach said of the conference.

The Bearcubs will open their season in Poplar on Saturday, Jan. 2.

“Fundamentals is our goal. We need to get everybody up to the same point,” Jackson said.
