Junior High Athletes Honored In Wolf Point

Wolf Point honored its junior high athletes during a ceremony on Monday, Dec. 7. Participants for football, volleyball, cross country and girls’ basketball were recognized.
Wolf Point athletic director Cody Larson thanked the athletes for their commitment despite having reduced schedules because of COVID concerns. For example, the football team practiced for three months and only had one game.
Highlighting the event were remarks by Coy Weeks, activities director in Poplar.
Weeks, a 2000 graduate of Wolf Point High School, talked about his family’s and Wolf Point’s tradition of state champions. He said a lot of pieces are needed in order to earn a state championship.
“You are as good as you want to be,” Weeks told the students. “If you want to be great at something, you need to put the time in.”
He noted the positive impacts that sports had in his life. Those positives included going to college.
“Without sports, I wouldn’t be doing a lot of things I’m doing today,” Weeks said.
He said he is proud to be a graduate of Wolf Point High School. “People from Wolf Point have done great things,” Weeks added.
