Lady Wolves Look Forward To Campaign

Under the guidance of a new head coach, the Wolf Point girls’ basketball team looks for a strong season this school year.
The Wolves began practice on Monday, Dec. 7, under the direction of coach Jon Kolstad. He was born and raised in Wolf Point and now lives in Glasgow.
Kolstad’s career includes about 20 years coaching basketball and baseball. He coached at the high school level in Glasgow.
“They are good kids, and it’s a good community,” Kolstad said of Wolf Point. “I love coaching. I’m looking forward to it.”
The Wolves lost a few seniors, but they have many returning players from last season’s team that placed sixth at the divisional tournament.
“We also have a strong freshmen group coming up,” Kolstad said.
The returning players include J’Elle Garfield, a sophomore, who earned All-Conference second team honors last season. Other starters back include junior Hamyanie Campbell and junior Josie Kolstad.
“We don’t have a lot of height, but we have a bunch of athletic kids,” Coach Kolstad said. “We have good ability and attitudes.”
Assistant coaches are Demi Henderson and Jerome Azure.
“I think the girls are going to be real coachable,” Coach Kolstad said. “I think it’s going to be a real positive season.”
The Wolves will open their season against Dodson at home on Saturday, Jan. 2.
