Wilson Receives All-State Honors
Two Wolf Point football players have earned honors on the Northern B All-Conference team by league coaches.
Wolf Point’s senior Austin Wilson was a first team selection as an athlete on offense and as a defensive linebacker. Wilson was one of 12 players selected from the league to the All-State team.
Wilson was selected the team’s most valuable player. He rushed for 532 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns. Wilson caught seven passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Wilson led the Wolves with 86 tackles. He accounted for three forced fumble, one fumble recov- ery and four tackles for loss.
Wolf Point’s senior Parker Swenson was voted to the second team as a kicker.
Swenson was selected the team’s most improved player. He scored five points during the short season. He had 10 tackles for the Wolves.
The first team offense featured four players from Glasgow and three players from state runner-up Fairfield. Selected from Glasgow were tight end Dylan Nieskens, running back Jesse Lee, lineman Cooper Larson and lineman Mayson Phipps. Named from Fairfield were quarterback Guidry Giles, wide receiver Gavin Mills and lineman Kolter Bouma.
Other first-team selections on offense were Malta’s running back Cash Salsbery, Conrad’s wide receiver Carson Bitney, Conrad’s lineman Kade Harwood and Malta’s lineman Pierce Mortenson.
Malta placed five players on first team defense included defensive back Rex Williamson, linebacker Cash Salsbery, defensive end Parker Mortenson, defensive end Pierce Mortenson and tackle Beau Simonson. Selected from Fairfield were defensive back Gavin Mills, defensive back Conor Murray and linebacker Kolter Bouma. Picked from Glasgow were defensive back Colten Fast, linebacker Dylan Nieskens and tackle Mayson Phipps.
The special teams honors for first team were Cut Bank’s kicker Eddie Dewert, Glasgow’s punter Loden Idler and Conrad’s return specialist Carson Bitney.
All-State selections from the league were Wolf Point’s Wilson, Conrad’s Bitney, Fairfield’s Bouma, Glasgow’s Idler, Fairfield’s Mills, Malta’s Pierce Mortenson, Fairfield’s Murray, Glasgow’s Nieskens, Glasgow’s Phipps, Malta’s Salsbery, Malta’s Simonson and Malta’s Williamson.
