Wolf Point’s football team put together a strong effort against a talented Glasgow squad in terrible wet weather on Friday, Oct. 16. Glasgow won by a 48-6 final.

“The younger kids are getting a ton of playing time,” Wolf Point coach Ryan Wilson said.

Glasgow took an 8-0 advantage on its first possession when Jesse Lee scored on a nine-yard run. The Scotties next scored on a 14-yard dash by Lee with 8:42 left in the first quarter. A 20-yard run by Kyler Hallock put Glasgow up by a 24-0 margin.

The Wolves created a break when Austin Wilson forced and recovered a fumble on a punt return. Glasgow, however, gained the ball back on a fumble recovery by Trey Johnson.

After strong defensive plays by Wolf Point’s Wilson and Preston Swenson, Glasgow scored on a 13-yard quarterback keeper by Loden Idler for a 32-0 lead with 2:58 left in the first quarter. The Scotties scored on the quarter’s final play on a short pass from Idler to tight end Dylan Nieskens.

Glasgow enjoyed a 48-0 half-time advantage.

Wolf Point scored in the third quarter on a 61-yard run by quarterback Wilson.

Wilson led the Wolves with 88 yards rushing. Braeden Toavs ran for 11 yards. Chance Smith added five yards.

Wilson finished with 17 tackles, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble. Gaige Bushman accounted for five tackles. Swenson, Hunter Raining Bird and Charlie Page added four tackles each.

The Wolves fell to Cut Bank, 48-6, on Monday, Oct. 12.

“Playing two games in a week is super hard,” Coach Wilson said. “The boys are doing whatever they can in order to have a chance to play.”

Wilson finished with 119 rushing yards and 13 passing yards against Cut Bank. Toavs had two receptions.

Wilson had 17 tackles. Vaun Jensen and Bushman had forced fumbles. Page made a fumble recovery. Other leaders in tackles were Toavs with six, Raining Bird with six, Bushman with five and Martell with five.

Wolf Point is scheduled to host Poplar on Friday, Oct. 23.
