Area Runners Place In Fort Peck


Runners from Wolf Point and Poplar returned to action at the Nemont Invitational cross-country meet held in Fort Peck on Thursday, Oct. 16.
Wolf Point’s boys earned the team title with 35 points. Richey/Lambert placed second with 41 points and Glasgow was third with 44 points.
Samuel Smith of Richey/ Lambert won the individual championship at 15:45. Glasgow’s Carl Zabrocki took second at 16:51.
Wolf Point’s senior Zander Ackerman ran the course in 17:05 for third place.
Ackerman said he felt fine for most of the race, but his legs gave out in the last 400 meters. He looks forward to the state meet this weekend in Kalispell.
Wolf Point’s freshman Peyton Summers earned fourth place in 18:01.
Kholby Spotted Wolf, a sophomore, took eighth at 18:25. August Spotted Wolf, a junior, placed 12th at 18:41.
Ethan Blount, a junior, placed 14th at 18:56. Kaholo Toves, a senior, earned 21st at 19:55.
Jaxon Azure, a junior, took 28th at 24:46.
Poplar’s sophomore Morgan Mathison finished 23rd at 20:15. Kobe Darnell, a junior, earned 26th at 24:22.
Poplar’s freshman Finesse Headdress placed 31st at 27:19 and freshman Jaylen Red Dog took 32nd at 27:28.
Glasgow won the title in the girls’ division with 18 points. Poplar placed second with 40 points Iris McKean was the overall winner at 19:32. Plentywood’s Annie Kaul finished second at 19:36.
Wolf Point’s sophomore Piper Ruffing finished eighth at 22:50.
Wolf Point’s junior Hamyanie Campbell took ninth at 22:54.
Leading Poplar was Jazmyn Carry Water with a time of 24:31 for 15th place.
Poplar’s junior Teagan Escarcega earned 23rd at 26:17.
Senior Jayme Red Boy took 31st at 30:01. Freshman Rikki Belton took 32nd at 30:10.
