Local anglers Jason Eggebrecht of Fort Peck and Ross Lien of Glendive took the top honors at the Montana Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament, which was held on Fort Peck July 10-11.

Eggebrecht and Lien had a combined two-day total of 80.97 pounds which gave them a new Montana Governor’s Cup record. The previous record of 70.04 was set last year. The pair caught 48.25 pounds of walleye on day two, which is an average of nearly 10 pounds for each of the five fish scored.

This is Eggebrecht’s second win at the Montana governor’s cup. He won in 2018 with Drew Alpers.

Coming in second were Nick Polivka of Watford City, N.D., and Jeff Mally of Omaha, Neb. They caught 65.36 pounds.

Third place was claimed by Andy and Samantha Rose of Huntley, who pulled in 62.96 pounds.
