Wolves’ Grapplers Compete At Malta

The Wolf Point Wolves competed at the Malta Invitational wrestling meet Saturday, Feb. 1.

Malta was the last meet on the regular-season schedule.

Only two Wolf Point wrestlers — Sofie Rasmussen and Samantha Reed — competed at Malta.

Both girls have competed at other meets, but Malta was the first time only girls represented the Wolves at a meet. Both went 0-2.

“They both did some good things. We just need to get them over their nerves. They are still a little nervous and that makes them hesitate,” head coach Scott Vandall said.

The Eastern B/C Divisional at Huntley Saturday, Feb. 8, is next. The only remaining wrestling event will be the State All-Class tournament at the Metra in Billings Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15.

“We are looking forward to the divisional this week end in Huntley Project. We are hoping to have Mason Garfield back with us and the girls,” Vandall said.

Garfield was injured at a recent meet.

“We are hoping to get a couple of better draws than we have had in the last couple weeks. We just have to get after it. I think we are finally over all the sicknesses in the room and eager to have a good divisional meet,” Vandall said.
