The Pastor’s Corner

“Hold tight to God, your God, just as you’ve done up to now” ( Joshua 23:8), Message Bible.

When someone tells you to hold on, what does that look like for you? You may feel like you’re hanging by a rope on a mountain and holding on is key to your life. Some of us men are trying to hold on with our own hands and we find we can’t do it. Jesus says come and learn of me. Take the rope, tie it tight around your waist and it will uphold you.

If you hold tight to Him, you’ll find He will uphold you.

With the things of God, it’s important to hold on to them. Hold on to your faith. Hold on to your prayer life and study of the Word. Hold on to His truth and His will for you. The enemy desires for you to let go of the very thing that got you here. He desires to pull you away from the very habits that keep you strong and constant. The enemy knows this is how you really hold on. This is how you really hold tight to God and keep obeying Him.

In our journey of faith, how we can finish the race well “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called [us] heavenward in Christ Jesus’? ( Philippians

4:1.) We must hold on tight and keep a strong grip on Jesus, which Paul meant when he said, “stand firm in the Lord’ ( 4:1). We have no resources f our own. We depend fully on Christ to keep us moving forward. He will take us through the greatest challenges and lead us safely home.

Toward the end of his earthly life, the apostle Paul declared, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” ( 2 Timothy 4:7). You can too. Simply keep a strong grip on Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank You for encouraging me to hold on. Help me to continue seeking You and allow You to uphold me. No matter what comes, I won’t let go. I will hold on to Your promises. I will hold on to what You say about me. Give me strength. I believe I will see Your goodness in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
